I don't know for certain, but I do know that the DNR has been doing "controlled burns" in many areas. Perhaps some of my emails will have some listings for that areas.

I can't seem to dig up the announcements for DNR burns but here is an article from UP NORTH LIVE. com .
CRAWFORD COUNTY -- The National Weather Service posted about a fire in Crawford county at three Saturday afternoon.
They reported seeing a wildfire burning in Central Crawford County from their office.
Smoke was visible at Hartwick Pines State Park and was moving southwest.
When we checked around 5 o'clock radars were showing smoke reaching as far as Fife Lake. However, it was unclear if smoke on radar was from the wind or the flames spreading. Smoke visibility started diminishing shortly after.
We have made several calls on this and the only thing that can be confirmed is Camp Grayling's DNR and Lovells Fire Department were involved.
We will update you on this developing story.
