DNR offers steelhead fishing clinic March 28-29 in Cadillac

Johnson Hunt and Fish Center in Cadillac, Michigan, will host the Department of Natural Resources Steelhead Clinic Saturday, March 28, at 9 a.m. Presented by the Hunt and Fish Center pro-staff, the five-hour class will cover various strategies and techniques for chasing Michigan’s "chrome torpedoes."
The class will reconvene at daybreak Sunday, meeting at Tippy Dam State Park on the Manistee River, for the hands-on fishing portion of the clinic.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own gear, if possible, both days. For those new to steelheading, there will be a Saturday afternoon trip to a local tackle shop to get outfitted.

A second steelhead clinic will be offered the second weekend in April for those who are interested but cannot make the March date.
Lodging is available nearby at Pilgrim Village, the Sands Resort, Days Inn, Evergreen Resort, or Mitchell State Park.

2015 fishing guide and DNR coffee cupThe Department of Natural Resources has announced it will again this spring offer public forums throughout Michigan, inviting the public to discuss local and statewide fisheries management activities and concerns.
Conversations & Coffee with DNR Fisheries Division will take place in each of the eight DNR management units that oversee Michigan’s fisheries. The purpose of these forums is to allow the public to meet managers and biologists, discuss local issues and management activities, and get specific questions answered.
These informal forums also will make information available on local and statewide regulations affecting anglers. Refreshments will be provided.
