Cheboygan Dam will partially close for riverbank repairs
The Department of Natural Resources today announced that the Cheboygan Dam in Cheboygan County will be partially closed near the bowl area due to riverbank repair.
DNR Parks and Recreation Division staff is working to coordinate repairs as quickly as possible. Preparation for the repair will begin July 10 with actual work beginning July 14. At this time, the DNR has not provided an estimated date of completion.
In the meantime, those interested in fishing can still access the bowl area using the South Street parking lot and stairs. Parking also will be available at the Lincoln Street boating access site. Anglers will be able to use the north side of the bowl area using the spillway to gain entry.
For more information about the repairs or general information about the Cheboygan Lock and Dam, contact DNR Cheboygan Field Office manager Dave Stempky at 231-627-9011.
