Learn about fisheries management activities on lakes Huron, Michigan
and Superior; 2014 newsletters available online
Newsletters detailing fisheries management activities of southern, central and northern Lake Michigan, southern Lake Huron and eastern and western Lake Superior are now available on the Department of Natural Resources’ website at www.michigan.gov/fishing.
These newsletters are intended to inform the public about fishery management activities completed during 2013. Highlights of each include:
2014 Southern Lake Michigan Management Unit newsletter features information on stocking, partnerships, habitat enhancements, research and data collection, assessments, lake and stream surveys and other activities.
2014 Central Lake Michigan Management Unit newsletter includes articles on fish rearing, weir operations, education and outreach efforts, partnerships, research and data collection and narratives about local water bodies.
2014 Northern Lake Michigan Management Unit newsletter provides information on partnerships, education and outreach initiatives, fish-rearing efforts, surveys and much more.
2014 Southern Lake Huron Management Unit newsletter contains articles on creel censuses, dam removals, surveys, fish rearing, partnerships and volunteers.
2014 Eastern Lake Superior Management Unit newsletter features information on fish rearing, habitat work, surveys and fieldwork.
2014 Western Lake Superior Management Unit newsletter includes articles on surveys, fish rearing and stocking and much more.
Several of these newsletters also contain detailed maps of each management unit and all include contact information for DNR Fisheries Division staff responsible for particular areas.
