Here is a link to the Article, it is a possibility that 2 Hunters Died but Since Michigan has had CWD for several Years and No Longer Offer Free Testing Could This be 1 Reason why More Deer Hunters have Dropped Out Of Deer Hunting?? Good Posibility is It Not! Since the MI Talks how we have lost many Deer Hunters and like to Point This Out and why they need Hunters because of the So-Called High Deer Numbers yet in 2023 the UP and Northern LP did not have the Deer Numbers the MI DNR Says Michigan Has makes one Wonder??? www.fieldandstream.com/conservation/study-cwd-fatal-human-disease-link/Just an Observation! mike1m

It is a possibility but I don't think this article by itself is much of one. CWD and not being able to get quick reliable testing is certainly one of several reasons that hunters have leaving deer hunting. The bait ban, mandatory APRs, and a complex large collection of regulations have been the 3 largest reasons from what I have read. An aging group of hunters is also having a huge impact.
A growing distrust of the DNR and NRC is becoming a growing reason for hunters turning their back to deer hunting. The coyote controversy is just another example of this. Hunters are viewing the NRC and the DNR, since the naming of the last DNR Director, as political tools that no longer have the best interests of the hunters and fishermen as important factors except for their money. They also believe that Science (Proposal G) has been abandoned in the decision-making process. This increasing dissatisfaction bears watching as time goes on.

All valid points but the MI DNR only mentions Deer Hunters Aging Out. Have yet to hear them mention ANYTHING about CWD Testing or Baiting. And Yes the New Director of the DNR is just moved from the Director of the MI Lottery so he has little seems back in Resource Management which is just an Added Strike Against MI Deer Hunters. And Prop G has been Sidestepped by the NRC & DNR. Even the MUCC took Notoce of This back in July 2022 yet Nothing has come of this either! What Happened to Using Sound Science to come up with Decisions and Changes? Also Lost!. We as Hunters are Losing and Few are Concerned! SAD!!! mike1m
