The silence on social media in regards to maprs right now is deafening. On both sides. The NRC's decision to postpone the controversial deer regulations for at least a month must have hurt worse than I thought. The only impressionable mention-able post has been from a certain certainly inebriated PHD about silence being golden. Something about percentages again.
Myself I have been fishing as much as mom will let me. Plus the yard work, racecar, foodplot(aka garden), ratrod, girlfriend, shedding dog, yada yada yada.
The deer hunting decisions have already been decided, so there is no reason to "whine". Nobody has had a decision in their favor yet. No reason to do the Iggie Shuffle either.

Fletchers' pond by chance?
My brother and I fished that impoundment back when he got out of the army around 78. First time I ever laid my eyes on a 48 in pike. Too bad we did not catch it. I would love to repeat that weekend.

I finally made it out fishing myself Tue. Went to Cheboygan dam and did real well. A couple huge smallmouth ( season is still closed ) a couple of just under sized walleye a big perch and seven keeper rock bass. Headed to the UP for whitefish next week at Grand Marias.

The last post that I read stated that they weren't sure when the vote would be taken but that could be garbage to throw us off the date. I have a letter that I will send after the next meeting. Doehead is most likely right in that the decisions are already made but I will try anyway. I will not post it on the open forum.
My daughter bought bait and brought it over last weekend so I hope that we get out fishing this weekend if the lake is not too busy and the weather isn't lousy. It would be nice to get some gills and to try for some walleye that were planted a couple of years ago.

Glad to be home... the amount of idiots traveling US23 ON Memorial weekend holiday was crazy. Had 3 or 4 cases where common sense with these people was lacking and law enforcement should be thicker.. drivers passing in no passing zones and on coming traffic etc etc etc
Weekend was enjoyable the drive home setback the whole weekend..

My granddaughters and I enjoyed an afternoon fishing off of one of the docks in a shallow cove on the west end of our lake. The wind really messed things up but we came away with 7 or 8 fish that I filleted. My youngest daughter caught a multitude of fish that were very small and of quite a variety. My other granddaughter and I had only a very few to sort through. We had 6.5 - 9.5 inch perch, a 12 inch catfish, green sunfish, and bluegill. It was quite a day. My cane went into the lake right away and my loving granddaughter retrieved it. I forgot my fishing vest so I had no pliers or jaw spreaders. When I went to retrieve my hook from the catfish, it nailed me twice real good. That was enough so I just broke the line. My granddaughters eventually stopped laughing. The wind made it incredibly difficult to cast and to feel the bite. Twice I had my line ripped off before I knew what was happening.
Fire trucks, ambulances, and several police cruisers went out to the Sterling exit of I-75 according to my daughter. We never heard what was up. My opinion is that with the speed increase some mindless drivers will be doing 85 or better. The crashes will be just that much worse. I am so glad that I no longer have a need to drive anywhere on holidays. Be safe out there. I am very happy that you made it home without any problems, jbrown.

I stay around home on most weekends. Holiday weekends for sure. I stay off of the main routes as much as possible when I do have to travel. Michigan is a beautiful state, you don't see much on the highway. It takes longer to get there, but the sights you may see.... God luck on the chemo treatments, you are in my prayers.
