Not going to hit it hard but did promise the UofM that I would take care of some beavers for them . Went out there today and made five 330 sets . Only one was a caster set ( a ways upstream from the main beaver activity ) so not much of a test to see if they are really out and about patrolling their territory . Might set a couple other spots with castor tomorrow after delivering wood depending on how much snow we get tonight(been snowing hard so far) Still plenty of snow in the woods but was able to drive up on top of it today to get back in to where I need to go. Will try and take the camera with me tomorrow !

Was a little disappointed today with only one beaver . Would not be surprised if these beaver have been harassed before , time will tell. moved the set I caught the beaver in to this spot . This castor mound is fresh from this morning . Several dens right there but did not set any of them today.
This beaver has a bunch of injuries but haven't skinned it yet to really know what caused them. Not in a usual spot for being caused by fighting but they could be .

Checked traps again today and had two more big ones from that same spot. A little unusual to be getting that many adults out of one colony No sign of any young ones and usually they will clog the traps first especially when setting right on the lodge. Took a drive to another spot to see if I could make it back there with all the snow and only had to stop and shovel a bit two times. Loggers are coming in from a different way and logging aspen up to the ridge that follows the river and beaver /beavers are climbing the hill and cutting on the tops . No dam or lodge in the area but obviously there is at least one beaver there so made two bait/castor sets . Still debating on how hard I want to trap but there seems to be plenty to trap if I decide to . From todays check
a little foggy on this pic as I dropped the camera in the river
