The guy doesn't even live in Michigan and he's stirring up crap on MSF. (They can't figure out how to permanently ban him either). He has to get his pokes in one way or another. He writes;
"Of all 100 or so members of the SMART forum, Dennis is the only one I have any respect for. I disagree with him frequently, but can still respect him. Not sure about this most recent quibbling though. My BS sensors tell me we should expect another nonsense ridden piece by Curtis soon though."
He has already read what Curtis has written recently, but he wants to look smart. Curtis cant respond on the MSF forms, so there is where he ridicules. He has been banned there more than here and he still continues to post under the moniker Otcarcher. I guess they don't take his B.S. so seriously in Arizona so he has to get "involved" here. LOL

Ride on, Curtis! My new motto is: I live to quibble. Give me quibbling or give me honesty.
Thanks for the R.E.S.P.E.C.T (circa Aretha Franklin). It seems to be a rare thing on MSF.

Here is a post that I made in reply to the bantering going on in that same thread (it was not a direct response to otcarcher).
Somehow a firestorm was created when I joined in with bioactive in his post 31 about the quoted article. My conclusion agreed with bioactive's and I also postulated as to how such a judgement or report might have been made. All of a sudden this became a contest of he said or she said or did not say.
Hansen made a statement that "arguments . . ." bioactive took issue with that statement. Hansen did not say that argument was expressed in a LPDMI presentation. He made a general statement about the debate. IMO there were holes in Hansen's article but this particular one did not seem that big of a deal because it was so general.
I would suggest reading the article by Jeff Johnston, "The Rise (and fall) Of The Whitetail Micro-Manager in Petersen's September 2016 issue. It was part of my catch-up reading at deer camp. Obviously I am not going to reprint the entire article here. This is a well written article. Jeff is an author and editor for the NRA.
He cites several well-know writers in the deer management world. "Dr. James Kroll is a biologist and a world authority on whitetails. . . 'I've been involved in deer management for over forty years and have many concerns for the future,' Kroll said, 'One of these is how people bring the same obsessive ways of modern, highly competitive life to what should be fun. I've seen lifelong friendships destroyed because someone 'shot the wrong buck.' "
"Gordon Whittington of North American Whitetail" "On small parcels where most Americans hunt, Whittington is convinced we're overestimating the benefits of micro-managing.
'From a genetics standpoint, I don't see any practical harm in the loss of young bucks,' he said. 'Their genes are as randomly distributed as those of older bucks. . .If the herd is healthy overall, any young buck taken will certainly mean that it, specifically, will not reach its maximum trophy potential, but it can't make a lot of difference to the trophy potential of the herd.' "
"So what does the organization that is most responsible for the current micro-managing tendency say? 'Unlike elk that form herds where one male can dominate breeding, whitetails work solo which allows the majority of bucks in a given area to contribute genetically.' said Brian Murphy, CEO of Quality Deer Management Association. . . 'Over the past years, I've seen the pendulum swing from overly rigid management programs to those that were more flexible, . .This is a positive trend, as I believe deer managers should seek a balance between producing mature bucks and creating a program that measures success in memories rather than inches of antler.' "
"This is something on which most all whitetail experts agree. 'Being too heavy-handed with buck standards turn off some new hunters and cause friction between neighbors,' Whittington said, 'I'd rather lose a few young bucks while gaining a few hunters--and some much needed harmony--in the process.' "
Perhaps it is time for Michigan's pendulum to swing to more flexibility in the NW 12 and in other areas of the state for some much needed harmony which just might mean more hunters and more hunting. If we are honest, heavy-handed regulation management is just not necessary.

"Kroll said, 'One of these is how people bring the same obsessive ways of modern, highly competitive life to what should be fun."
And there is the rub. Competition. I am better than you. Look at what I let go. Look at what I harvested. Look at my prime hinge cut, food plotted, natural deer haven. I pay big bucks for that lease. I have the best taxidermist, he's worth the wait and cost. You can't ban me, I'll just get a new IP address. I go 30 feet up. Team Whack-em-stack-um. Ad nauseum.
Those that compete in deer hunting set them selves up to be unhappy. So sad.

It is too dark 1/2 hr before sunrise and 1/2 hr after sunset to accurately count points. Sticks look like antlers in those light conditions.

OTC is in a good mood because he is back in the clique on MSF. Once he gets banned again he will be back here posting his intelligence until he can get a new screen name over there. Right now he thinks he's being smart by ridiculing Anti Apr rhetoric. He is "the ultimate troll". A lonely, depressed, misplaced, Michiganian.
