I read this reply made to Ridge about natural/unnatural on a different site and it got me thinking. Here is the reply;
"Unnatural"?
The life expectancy of bucks under "natural" conditions is 10-15 years. A 5.5 year old buck is so rare in Michigan that most hunters never even see one.
APRs represent an effort to at least partially overcome the "unnatural" condition created by the lust for antlers of the average hunter."
APRs represent an effort to at least partially overcome the "unnatural" condition created by the lust for antlers of the average hunter.
Let's dissect that sentence;
"represent", to act or speak officially for.
"effort", an earnest or strenuous attempt.
"least", smallest in amount or degree.
"partially", somewhat but not completely.
"overcome", to defeat.
"unnatural", different from how things usually are in the physical world or in nature.
"condition", a way of living or existing.
"created", to make or produce (something) : to cause (something new) to exist.
"lust", a strong feeling of sexual desire.
"antlers", the horn of a deer or similar animal.
"average", a level that is typical of a group, class, or series
"hunter", a person who hunts wild animals.
So, stated a different way;
APR'S APPEAR AS A PUSH TO MINIMALLY OVERTHROW THE INCREDIBLE PREDICAMENT SPAWNED BY THE HUNGER FOR HORNS BY THE ORDINARY PURSUER OF GAME.
or
Apr's serve as a way to slyly change regulations that most hunters enjoy.
It is that simple, Roget's Thesaurus told me.
And what is "natural" anyway? Even our own government cannot decide. (www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/LabelingNutrition/ucm456090.htm)
"Because of the changing landscape of food ingredients and production, and in direct response to consumers who have requested that the FDA explore the use of the term “natural,” the agency asked the public to provide information and comments on the use of this term in the labeling of human food products."
So if the federal government can't decide what foods are natural in this day and age, how the hell are we going to believe ANY definition of natural.
Are we to go back to defecating when and wherever just because it is natural???
To claim that our deer herd is unnatural and then wanting to interfere with Mother Nature is unnatural.
