Trim any blood sites away and there should be no reason for soaking. Proper field dressing and quick cooling is the key to good venison. A lot of good venison is ruined every year because hunters do not know how to care for the meat or don't care to take the time to do it right. I used to get sick watching prime venison hauled around on the front of a vehicle.
