Did a little research in what these 2 State Docs mention and alot is about "Sound Scientific Management" & Taking "Politics out of how Wildlife and resources are tobe managed. It states several time sthta they need to Take all into consideration incluidng , "Hunters", Private Landowners as well as other "Stakeholders". SO if they were to take all into the decision making where has the Sound Scientific Management been used? As well as when Prop G was voted on it was more about a Private Landowner taking issue with Bear Hunting and having Hounds running across his property so they wantedto put legislation into place that put some kind of state agency to oversee things like this as to how we take fish and wildlife. But seems just the opposite has happened Politics is now more important than Science. (just an example or 2) Where was the science used when the opened up the "Universal ANtlerless License" prior they set a specific alotment as to each DMU to in an attempt lower deer numbers in each that needed more Deer Taken. So why is it you can as I read the info on the "Universal Antlerless License" you can purchase up to 10 and use them across the state or in 1 area. How is that good Management. Sure I get that ey need Hunters but once you have seen what Antlerless can do in areas over time they can decimate deer numbers. Why not limit 1 or 2 to a Hunter why 10. Also why is it we are losing Deer Hunters? Have they done any true studies as to why we have lost so many as they use as talking points when they push the need for using Antlerless Licenses? Over the years some DMU's you could not get an Antlerless License for some so why not ask why some are no wanting to use them. And why we are losinh Deer Hunters? Could it be any of these;
CWD and Getting a Deer Tested?
The constant changes to the Regulations with little to no science being used in the decisions"
Lost of Access to Hunting locations?
Obstacles put in hunters path to make it difficult to meet the new requirements?
As the 2016 Plan mentions; recreational opportunities & undue hardship on private interests among other things. If these and other things are mentioned why have they pushed things to make it more of a burden when they Talk they Need Us Deer Hunters?
AMother example;
APR's if CWD is to have a higher prevalence in Older Deer which can spread CWD why put APR's in place this another part of the 2016 Plan states using reseach and experts knowledge as to Sound Scientific Management Practices when making "decisions" Yet CWD is here and it continues to spread so why offer a path for it to spread?
Just seem why some Deer Hunters have taken issue with why Science is no longer used when the DNR and NRC seem to change course with lack of science used. I get that Deer NUmbers have Increased bt why have we lost so many Dee Huntersmaybe it is Time to Find Out and learn exact why. If they do Surveys and Such for everything else and lack of Hunters are being Blamed for increase in Deer Numbers then why not learn why. Another thing that seems to be known is the Lack of a DNR Budget Funds so they find a work around like Cutting Out Check Stations and Selling the Cooperators Patch when Deer Hunters put millions of Dollars in Michigan economy each fall why not put Funds into the DNR if it is a money maker for the state? Been hearing the lack of a budget is why so many things get changed. If the state can give Millions to Ford for a Battery Plant why not give funds to the MI DNR?
Maybe some should become aware how Prop G & 2016 Plan are no longer a apart of Good Sound Hunting Decisions / Practices, it states specific things and It appears it is far from how they Make Decisions more Politics that Best Practices. What do you see?
