dwightd went to Canada bear hunting this year. His season began on the 15th. During the first few days of the season, he bagged, I mean, shot a 200 pound bear but I hope he reports in here with the story. He phoned me and said that he would try to copy and paste some pictures. I also asked him to write a few lines about his hunt. I think he does most, if not all, of his online stuff with his phone and he said that it is not easy. If he can not get it on here, I will relay it for him when he gets it to me.

Dwight took his 200 pound bear on the first afternoon at Northern Wilderness Bear Outfitters. I just noticed that a chart from the skinning shed said that his bear weighed 258 pounds so I sent Dwight a message asking for a clarification. [DWIGHT REPLIED THAT THE CHART WAS WRONG AND THAT HIS BEAR DID WEIGH 200 POUNDS. THAT IS STILL A GOOD BEAR OF PRIME EATING SIZE!] He evaluated the size of his bear by its location next to a barrel that the outfitters had placed there for bait. Also there was what appeared to be a 1.5 or older bear at his site at the same time. His bear dropped a very short distance from his stand, I believe he said 30-35 yards or less, almost on the trail back to his camp. I will still try to get him to post some comments on here as the story is always best first hand. I know that he has some very funny stories including one about Mike Avery meeting up with a bear just outside of his room. That also should be on Mike's site. Here are some pictures: The cub that showed up at camp. The view out of dwightd's blind. The bear is on the truck and is ready to head to camp along with a very happy dwightd.

And dwightd managed to do a little fishing while in Canada: He also managed to catch a sucker for which I commented that he may have driven the longest distance to catch a prize member of that species.

I am glad that you had a great time, dwightd, and that you had another successful hunt. Thank you for the fine pictures even if it took my weak mind 12 hours to get them moved on to this site.
