They are claiming defense of the grandfather's safety as they felt he was being stalked. They also said there were things that they should have done differently. It sounds to me like pretty normal people that got themselves caught up in a bad situation.

Seems like there is a lot of resentment oozing from the DNR point of view...again would make a good sitcom? or CSI episode?
